Reusing water from sinks, showers, or laundry (greywater) can help your garden — but not all greywater is safe.

Safe greywater:

  • Water from baths, showers, and washing hands
  • Minimal soap, preferably biodegradable
  • Cool or lukewarm water

Harmful greywater:

  • Water with harsh chemicals, bleach, or fabric softeners
  • Dishwater with grease or detergents
  • Water from toilets (blackwater)

Small-system setup tip:

  • Direct greywater through a simple filter into a small submersible tank
  • Use a pipe outlet to water a contained garden area
  • Rotate where water is applied to avoid salt build-up
  • Use immediately or store briefly; don’t keep greywater long

Grow smarter:
This kind of compact system is perfect for a small garden or balcony plot — safe, controlled, and reduces waste while protecting your plants.
